Land Acknowledgment

Still I Rise Counseling Services respectfully acknowledges the land and history of this space, recognizing that the land on which we gather today is the traditional and ancestral homeland of the Arapaho and Cheyenne Nations. This area was also the site of trade, hunting, gathering, and healing for many other Native Nations, including Lipan Apache, Ute Nations, and peoples. We also recognize the 48 contemporary tribal nations that are historically tied to the lands that make up the state of Colorado.

We honor Elders past, present, and future, and those who have stewarded this land throughout generations.

We also acknowledge the labor of enslaved humans and their descendants who worked this stolen land for the colonists, and who continue to disproportionately face economic oppression, racism, violence, and exploitation.

May this acknowledgment reflect our commitment to anti-oppressive practice, cultural humility, and collective healing. We honor the resilience, wisdom, and enduring presence of Indigenous communities, while also recognizing the labor, strength, and lasting contributions of enslaved humans and their descendants. We acknowledge that the legacies of colonization, slavery, racism, and systemic inequities continue to impact individuals, families, and communities today.

By understanding the history of this land and the experiences of those who have stewarded it across generations, we strive to act with greater awareness, compassion, and accountability in the work we do and the relationships we build. Through this commitment, we seek to foster healing, honor diverse lived experiences, and contribute to a more just and equitable future.
